CIUDAD OBREGON - Orlando Salido (34-10-2, 22 KOs) avenged a November 2008 split-decision loss by winning a twelve round unanimous decision to capture the IBF featherweight from Cristobal Cruz (39-12-2, 23 KOs). Photos by Zanfer.

Salido came out with the intention of ending the fight from the first round with strong punches that shook Cruz, who suffered the worst of it in the second assault on two occasions - falling in through with right cross combinations.

Known to draw on all sorts of tactics in the ring, Cruz could level the fight complaining of cramps and low blows, although he was never deducted points. Salido continued to work with upper and jabs.

After a bump in the contest, Salido regained control of the fight in the ninth round by winning the twelfth round and almost knocked Cruz out at the end.
