SAN JUAN DEL RIO, MEXICO - Hundreds of people came out to see WBC flyweight champion Rodel Mayol of the Philippines and challenger Omar Nino of Mexico held a public workout in a ring mounted on the Independence of Colonial Gardens in this attractive town where their rematch will take place this Saturday in the Campus Plaza de Toros.
Mayol and Nino will face off in a rematch promoted by Zanfer Promotions, Top Rank, in coordination with the Municipal Government of San Juan del Rio, Queretaro State Government and will be broadcast by Fox Sports Espanol in the United States and Latin America, and TV Azteca will televise in Mexico.
"I'm counting the hours until I face Nino to be in the ring. I will provide a great fight and go back to the Philippines with my belt," Mayol said as he was besieged by people asking for autographs.
Minutes after his arrival Omar Nino received a standing ovation and the Mexican challenger made only slight shadow exercises and later attended a function where dozens of people were waiting to get signed autographs and took pictures.
"I feel great and the weight is no problem. We are ready first thing tomorrow for the weigh-in and then climb into the ring on Saturday for Mexico to recover what belongs to me, the worl title," said Nino the pride of Guadalajara, Jalisco.

The World Boxing Council, chaired by Don Jose Sulaiman was appointed as supervisor of the flyweight title fight with Mike George of the United States, Panama's Hector Afu is the referee and the judges are Samuel Conde of Puerto Rico, U.S. Daniel Mendoza and Harold Lawrence of Curaçao.
