Dorado, Puerto Rico, in the past two weeks, the gold medalist at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games 2010, Jose "Sniper" Pedraza (3-0, 3KO's), and the former world champion of World Boxing Organization (WBO) at 130 pounds, Roman "Rocky" Martinez (24-1-1, 15KO's), have been sparring and training together in a boxing gym in the town of Dorado.
The fights inside the ring of the highest level in which both fighters have taken their time, showed their skill and have not held back from attacking.
"The experience has been very good, they have treated us very well. The sparring has been great for me because Rocky is a great fighter and he was world champion. Sparring with someone who has much experience has helped me to improve. With him you can not sleep because you have blows coming at you from all sides and that is not good because he hits hard," said Pedraza, a fighter promoted by Gary Shaw Productions, Universal Promotions and DiBella Entertainment.
Pedraza will use this experience when he faces Pedro Salcedo (4-3, 2KO's) on August 19 on the event "Under Fire" in the Auditorium Juan "Pachin" Vicens in Ponce, PR.
"Pedraza is an excellent boxer, with good lateral movements. With him you have to be alert because he is skilled and fast. He is a fighter who has a lot of resources to become a world champion. He is going to go far," said Martinez.
After finishing their sparring, both agreed to continue working together because they could help each other with their different fighting styles.
"That is correct. The two teams get along very well and we will continue training together," said Pedraza, a native of Cidra fighter.
Pedraza will be featured on "Under Fire." Tickets for this event can be purchased through Sears, La Gran Discoteca or Ticketcenter by calling 787-792-5000 in the webpage www.tcpr.com.
