CAROLINA, PUERTO RICO - Starting things with a historic night in 2011, PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) will be celebrating its tenth anniversary with a "Night of Champions" event on DIRECTV - live from the Bayamón Correctional Complex on January 22, 2011.

It was be the first time where a professional boxing event will be presented live from that correctional facility and marks the return of the hit series "Night of Champions." DirecTV will be the exclusive carrier for Puerto Rico, United States, Central and South America.

"We wanted to start big in 2011, a year when we celebrate our tenth anniversary and what better than to do it with this historic event that we know will please all of the fans of boxing and all the people who follow the sport. We thank the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and its Secretary Carlos Molina for all the support on this event. We also highlight the work and great support from the people of DIRECTV and the Municipality of Bayamon with Mayor Ramon Luis Rivera," said promoter Ivan Rivera, president of PRBBP.

"It'll be something innovative, something never seen before and in which the public can enjoy the card from the penal institution in accordance with various rules, among them being no cell phones, no shorts, and picture identification is a must with those attending being at least twelve years of age.

The main event of the night will feature bantamweight Jonathan Oquendo (19-2 and 12 knockouts), defending the NABO World Boxing Organization (WBO) blet at 122 pounds against Mexican boxer Cuauhtemoc Vargas (15-4 and 10 KOs). Oquendo is rated number three by the WBO and 10 by the World Boxing Association (WBA) at bantamweight.

Besides Oquendo, also in action will be former Olympians Carlos Negron (10-0 and seven knockouts) and McJoe Arroyo (6-0 and three KOs) in  six round fights against opponents to be determined. Negrón returns after nearly six months out after an operation on his right hand. His fight will be at 200 pounds, while Arroyo's clash is at 118 pounds.

The television broadcast via DIRECTV Pay Per View will begin at 9:00 pm (time of Puerto Rico). The cost is $ 29.95 for all DIRECTV customers. The tickets can be purchased through Ticketcenter by going to www.tcpr.com.
