The lightweight champion of the WBA, Miguel "Aguacerito" Acosta, is already makeing plans for his first title defense, and waits for the official date and opponent.
"The people of Top Rank told us we would be fighting in the first half of September. There are opportunities to fight with Marco Antonio Barrera or Humberto "The Zorrita" Soto, be with whomever it will be we are ready to once again make Venezuela proud," Acosta confessed.
Acosta was in a press conference at Sport Book El Carmen, in Caracas, which he received an award for his world title. Mrs. Angela Collazo, on behalf of Mr. Ricardo Durán, presented the award and various media were present.
In addition, was accompanied by his coach Orangel "Memin" Ramos, his manager, Oscar Acosta, and also Mayerlin Rivas. The Venezuelan boxer spoke to reporters about his netx fight.
Acosta said he was in good condition after 22 days out of the gym, "I feel good. I'm in good condition in general, and waiting for the official announcement. We believe that my defense probably will be in Mexico. "
Ramos, meanwhile, said they would like to fight with Barrera, "our first choice would have to be the three time world champion, who has a good name and quality to give relevance to our Miguel. It would be us great value to beat him, and then we would be worth more."
But they do not rule out the possibility of going against Soto, "it doesn't seem as attractive to us [as Barrera], though it would be a good fight, but we believe that Barrera is more suited for our style, and our interests at this time."
Professor Acosta completed the information and said, "we say that we do not completely rule out a fight with Soto, but we are just going to wait for the last word from the people of Top Rank. Miguel is at a good weight and has always been responsible and attached to the gym, so there will be no problems. "
It's being said that next week Acosta should be receive the final word on his opponent.
