Las Vegas, Nevada- Interim junior welterweight champion Marcos Maidana officially opened camp today for his December 11th clash with WBA champion Amir Khan. Maidana will be training out of Barry’s Boxing in the heart of Las Vegas, with his duties being overseen by respected veteran Miguel Diaz.
Maidana sports a 29-1 record with 27 knockouts and introduced himself to American audiences last summer with a stirring technical knockout over Victor Ortiz. His lone defeat was a disputed split decision loss to Andriy Kotelnik on his opponent’s home turf. Khan will be training in the Philippines for three weeks before returning to Los Angeles to wrap up camp at trainer Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym.
