Clutching his green belt and gold as proud World Boxing Council, Luis Nery arrived home in Tijuana, with the great satisfaction of becoming world champion.
He was also welcomed by Municipal President of Tijuana Juan Manuel Gastelum Buenrostro, who attended the press conference and addressed some very emotional words to the new world champion.

Nery (24-0-0, 18 KO's) knocked out Japan's idol Shinsuke Yamanaka, who was attempting his 13th championship defense.
"Luis Nery is an example for our community, you are a pride of Tijuana! Sportsmen like you honor Tijuana, motivate young people to fight for their dreams and be good citizens. Congratulations on this impressive achievement," said the Mayor of Tijuana.

Zanfer CEO Fernando Beltran, promoter of Nery, reported that the possibility that in November ¨Pantera¨ Nery will defend his belt in Tijuana.
"It's a great satisfaction to see this belt in my hands. It is the goal that every boxer has since their debut and today is finally a reality. But I did not do it alone, as it was a great team effort. Thank you to my promoter Fernando Beltrán for believing in me, and so many thanks to my coach Ismael Rodríguez, to my representative Guillermo Brito Jr and to my company Zanfer that has led my career and got me this opportunity.
