Mexicali, BC .- The City of Mexicali, chaired by the Mayor Francisco Pérez Tejada, acknowledged Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. for his outstanding contributions that will take him to the International Boxing Hall of Fame in June.
In the ring at the Auditorium of the State of Baja California - and prior to rematch between Giovani Segura and Ivan Calderon - the Mayor of Mexicali, accompanied by his chairman of the Commission's Box Alvaro Aldrete, made a public acknowledgment the "great Mexican champion." Chavez's name was announced ecstatically by the great voice of Jimmy Lennon, to which the crowd responded with a huge ovation. Chavez was with his son Omar.
Fernando Beltran and Guillermo Brito of Zanfer, joined the recognition as Chavez toured all four corners of the ring to receive the heartfelt applause and frenzied cry of the public who still love and support him.
Visibly moved, "JC" regained his place at the broadcast table of TV Azteca, where he continued his work as a commentator. Mexicali recognized the greatest boxer in the history of Mexico, who in two months will become an immortal in history of boxing.
