In September 2017, Estrada and Cuadras fought in Carson, and they staged an exciting, competitive fight, exchanging blows from start to finish.

The "Gallo" took the victory by unanimous decision, by one point on the three scorecards (114-113). Each boxer won six rounds, but a knockdown scored by Estrada in the tenth round, making that round 10-8 , was the difference.

Estrada has not fought for more than a year, since August 2019, when he knocked out Dewayne Beamon in nine rounds in Hermosillo.
