Arena Mexico, Mexico City - WBA/WBO super flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada (27-2, 20KOs) continues to stake his claim as one of the best boxers in the lower weight divisions, as he stopped former champion Giovanni Segura (32-5-1, 28KOs) in the eleventh round.
Before a very enthusiastic crowd, Estrada was able to outbox, outfight and outwill the mandatory challenger.
Estrada wins his fifth since dropping a decision to ultra talented Roman Gonzalez in 2012. Segura's win streak ends at three.
In the co-feature, Jackie Nava (30-4-3, 13KOs) captured the WBC super bantamweight championship with a ten round majority decision over the very game Alicia Ashley (21-10-1, 3KOs). The scores were 98-92, 97-93 and 95-95. This was the third title for Nava at the weight. She previously held the WBC title and also had the WBA crown before dropping the belt to focus on her pregnancy.
