San Juan, PUERTO RICO - The undefeated junior lightweight prospect, Jose Pedraza (5-0, 4KOs), has left for California. Pedraza is only two pounds under the limit for his commitment this Friday, December 30th, at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, California, USA. The experienced fighter will face African Herbert Quartey in a fight over eight rounds, where the title in play will be the World Youth belt of the World Boxing Council (WBC) at 130 pounds.
This card will be headlined by former middleweight champion Jermain Taylor (28-4-1, 17 KO's), who faces Jesse Nicklow (22-3-2, 8 KO's) in a 10-round bout. This card will be presented by Showtime, as part of their boxing series ShoBox: The New Generation.
"We feel good and we are ready to bring this victory to Puerto Rico. This fight is at 130 pounds, but left the island at 132 pounds and eager to give my island, this Christmas gift, a world title," said Pedraza, who is promoted by DiBella Entertainment, Gary Shaw Productions and Universal Promotions.
