Up in the mountains of Big Bear, Calif., WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (24-0, 21 KO’s) continues to diligently train as his Jan. 19 HBO showcase draws near.
A crippling puncher, the buzz on Golovkin continues to build fight by fight. Presently, the Kazakhstanian born Golovkin is slated for an appearance inside of the Theater at Madison Square Garden, with either junior middleweight contender Gabriel Rosado (21-5, 13 KO's) or once-beaten middleweight hopeful Fernando Guerrero (25-1, 19 KO's) likely to get the call.
Regarded as one of the most devastating hitters in all of boxing, Golovkin’s brute power was on display during a six-minute stretch as he ripped away on the mitts with his trainer Abel Sanchez on Monday afternoon.
Sanchez’s Summit Gym has been gaining serious notoriety in recent times, with the likes of Mercito Gesta, Miguel Cotto, Saul Alvarez, Mikey Garcia, and others staging portions of their training camps inside his facility.
Inside of the building, so too does Sanchez have himself a gem of a fighter in Golovkin.
The priority now simply becomes getting him the right opponents so the world can see.
