Los Mochis, Sin - After an intensive seven-week training camp in the gym owned by his family in Los Mochis, triple world champion Fernando "Kochulito" Montiel is ready to return on Saturday June 25 in the capital of Sinaloa, Culiacan. Montiel and his team have already traveled to the location of the fight.
Montiel (44-3-2, 34 KOs) ended the strong phase of his training in the gym of the "Cochules" which is run by his father, Manuel Montiel, and on Saturday he faces a former world champion, Venezuelan Nehomar Cermeno (20-3-0, 12 KOs), in a 10-round bout scheduled to take place in the super bantamweight division.
Montiel, a former world champion at flyweight, super flyweight and bantamweight, arrived on Monday to Culiacan, where he plans to take part in several promotional commitments during the week.
The fight will be promoted by Zanfer at the Estadio Banorte, which is going to be broadcast by TV Azteca. Montiel returns after February's shocking two round defeat to Philippines boxer Nonito Donaire.
"Fernando is a warrior and he is always looking to fight the best and returning from a loss, Fernando requested an opponent with the class of Cermeno. He is well prepared and willing to put on a great show for the public," said Eduardo Montiel, brother and co-trainer.
