WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is used to towering over his opponents. The 6'7 heavyweight was undersized when he came face to face with retired NBA player Shaquille O'Neal. who stands at 7'1, at the Fanatics Super Bowl Party in San Francisco, California.
Shaq is a very big boxing fan and is often spotted at ringside.
Wilder retained his world title last month with a ninth round knockout of Polish contender Artur Szpilka at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
There are now ongoing negotiations for Wilder to make a mandatory defense of his belt against Olympic gold medal winner Alexander Povetkin of Russia. The two sides have until February 26th or a purse bid will take place in Mexico City.
The outcome of the negotiations will be interesting. Wilder has already refused to face Povetkin in Russia, but if they are unable to reach an agreement within the specified time and then promoter Andrei Ryabinsky wins the mandated purse bid - that's exactly where he'll look to stage it. Wilder will be forced to fight in Russia or vacate his title. Povetkin, a former WBA regular champion, holds the WBC's silver belt.
