Former two division world champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) is vacationing in Mexico and took to social media to show off his trimmed down physique.
Canelo has been out of the ring fighting to a controversial twelve round draw with IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin in September 2017 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
He was scheduled to have a rematch with Golovkin on May 5th, also at T-Mobile, but the contest fell out after Canelo tested positive for clenbuteroal in a pair of drug tests taken in February.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission hit him with a six month retroactive suspension, which is going to expire on August 17th.
Canelo intends to fight on September 15th, possibly against Golovkin, as part of Mexican Independence Day weekend.
To erase all doubts, Canelo recently signed up with with VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Association) - to take part in a year-round drug testing protocol.
Canelo has firmly maintained that his positive tests were directly connected to his ingestion of contaminated meat.
Golovkin went forward with his May 5th bout, and knocked out late replacement Vanes Martirosyan in two rounds at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Golovkin is very open to facing Canelo in the fall - if the two sides are able to reach an agreement.
