Over 17,000 fans packed La Plaza de Toros Monumental in Aguascalientes, Mexico to welcome back former three time welterweight champion Antonio "Tijuana Tornado" Margarito (38-6, 27 KOs), who won a ten round unanimous decision over Roberto Garcia (28-3, 21 KOs). The scores were 99-89, 100-88 and 99-90. Margarito had been inactive since last January 24 while serving a suspension from the California State Athletic Commission after an illegal substance was found in his handwraps prior to the loss to Shane Mosley. Garcia survived a first round knockdown but couldn't handle the harder punching, more experienced Margarito. The ref took away a point from Garcia for a head clash in round eight and another point in the tenth round for repeated low blows.
