Venezuelan Charlie Jose Navarro will go for a world title on Monday, August 30, when he takes on the world champion of World Boxing Association (WBA) at welterweight, Vyacheslav Senchenko, in Donetsk, Ukraine. Both came in looking great, with Senchenko weighing 146.3-pounds, and Navarro weighing 145.8 at the official weigh-in on Sunday.
This will be the second title defense for Senchenko (30-0, 20 KOs), who earned the black and gold belt by defeating his compatriot Yuriy Nuzhnenko on points, and then beat Japanese boxer Motoki Sasaki.
Navarro (18-3, 13 KOs), who is the current champion at the Fedelatin category, traveled well prepared and ready to address this major global chance accompanied by coaches Rigoberto Garibaldi, Francisco Arroyo and Dr. Ronyel Rudas.
The authorities in the global fight will be the Canadian Guy Jutras who will be the supervisor, referee Steve Smoger and judges Levi Martinez of America, John Coyle of England, and Juan Manuel Garcia of Spain.
