Triple world champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez, was honored when boxing legend Roberto "Manos de Piedra" Duran presented him with the award recognizing him as the 2014 Best Professional Athlete of the Year. The honor was unanimously voted on by the Sports Writers Association of Nicaragua at the Holiday Inn hotel. Duran was the guest of honor at the yearly gala.
"It's a blessing in my life, everything that happened this year, which was successful. This recognition gives me the courage and strength to continue training more in the gym. I have the support of my family, of my people and motivates me to do better," Gonzalez said.
