Donaire (23-1, 15 KOs) will defend his interim-super flyweight title of the World Boxing Association (WBA) against "Tyson" Marquez (25-1 and 18 knockouts). They are part of the event called "The Challenge" presented by Top Rank in association with PR Best Boxing Promotions and will be televised through the U.S. by Showtime from the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In Mexico TV Azteca will televise.
In the main event, Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez will defend his featherweight title of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) against the Filipino Bernabe Concepcion.
"We are coming after a long flight of nine hours with a stopover in Miami, then later we feel the humidity here in Puerto Rico, but it was something we expected, we come prepared and without weight problems," said Marquez on his arrival in San Juan, Puerto Rico, about 20:30 pm local time.
The challenger came with his work team led by coach Rudy Perez.
"We have the conviction after a five-week training camp at altitude of Mexico City, we will put all our effort toward capturing that world title. The opponent is difficult, but we believe in what we have to beat Donaire and we will leave the ring with the title," said the young fighter of 21 years.
