Heavyweight veterans Alexander Petkovic (49-4-4) and Raymond Ochieng (26-17-3) clash today at the A.S.V Halle in Dachau (Germany) over twelve rounds. Petkovic holds the GBU world title but this fight is billed as for vacant WBA I/C belt and as a eliminator for the portion of the WBA world title held by Ruslan Chagaev. If it indeed is approved by the WBA appears to be a very open question though.
Petkovic, who turned pro at 17 in 1997, was among the very late substitutes in the running for a fight with Chagaev in July when Fres Oquendo almost didn´t make it in time to Grozny (Russia).
Ochieng, whose record include many inside the distance losses against moderate opposition, upset David Rodriguez, then 37-1, last year and stopped him in the first.
