Junior welterweight Lamont Peterson (29-1-1, 15 KOs) is beaming with confidence as his title fight approaches with WBA/IBF champion Amir Khan (26-1, 18 KOs). The fight is scheduled to take place on December 10 in Washington, D.C. Peterson's only defeat occurred two years, when he lost a twelve round unanimous decision to WBO champion Timothy Bradley. Khan is a big favorite to win the fight. The champion's speed presents a lot of problems to his opponents, but Peterson feels his timing is enough to counter Khan's fast hands.
"I'm more confident at that level, world championship fights, being more confident in doing what I know how to do," Peterson said. "I feel I've progressed enough to become a star in this sport. I believe that it's my time as a professional to be on top. I'm a timing type of fighter. He throws a lot of punches and he throws them in bunches. He's fast. But I'm fast too. And timing beats speed every time. Sometimes you can go too fast. Timing is everything. At this point I feel comfortable enough to be me. That will be a big difference in the fight and will be the key to victory."
