Well known Australian promoter and host of a popular weekly TV boxing show Peter Maniatis has once again won the “Promoter of the Year” award for 2008.
It was the third time in the last four years that Maniatis, a friend of the Philippines who visits the country on a fairly regular basis, has won the award.
Maniatis told insidesports, Standard Today and Viva Sports that he wants to say “a big thank you to the Filipino boxers who fought on my events in 2008 including Jun Paderna, Rey Anton Olarte and Dondon Sultan” among others and helped win the award.
Maniatis said he plans “to keep promoting Filipino boxers in Australia in 2009, as Filipino's are brave and all action boxers who fight with plenty of heart and are exciting for the crowd to watch.”
The TV boxing show host said he plans to returning to the Philippines early next year to film a new documentary on Philippine boxing. His last four part documentary series which centered on the famed ALA Gym in Cebu won television awards in the state of Victoria and was, Maniatis said” a huge national hit.”
Maniatis extended his best Christmas wishes to all his many friends in the Philippines.
