Friday Night Fights, Live from the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, saw Samuel "The Nigerian Nightmare" Peter (26-1, 22KOs) blow away seven-foot Julius Long (14-8, 12KOs) in only 2:35 of the first round.

The fight was viewed as a mismatch from the day it was signed, and most could not see the reason for fighting Long - other than to build back the confidence of Peter. The winging bombs of Peter sent Long to canvas on two occassions in the first round.

The second time Long hit the deck he was out cold, prompting referee Arthur Mercante, Jr. to wave off the contest without a count. Long appeared to be fine after receiving medical attention from ringside physicians.

After the bout, Peter continued to call for a rematch with IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, but also said that he would face any of the reigning champions if he was unable to land Klitschko.

On the undercard;

Heavyweight contender Brian Minto (24-1, 14KOs) scored an eight round unanimous decision win over Billy Zumbrun (19-7-1, 11KOs). The scores were 78-74, 79-73, 79-72, all for Minto.

Undefeated heavyweight prospect Mike Marrone (14-0, 11KOs) stopped journeyman Dan Whetzel (7-6-1, 4KOs) within a minute of the first round.
