Former two-division world champion Gerry Peñalosa (54-8, 35KOs) hopes to end his 21-year boxing career with a win. On October 10 he faces Thailand’s Yodsaenkeng Kietmangmee in a ten round contest in Zamboanga City. Win or lose, the 38-year-old Penalosa is going to finally retire from boxing. He won WBC super flyweight and WBO bantamweight world title belts.

Penalosa's last match was on February 2 when he lost a controversial twelve round split decision to Eric Morel of Puerto Rico in a WBO eliminator for the right to face champion Fernando Montiel.

"What makes this fight special is the fact that we have a boxer who has accepted that it's time for him to bid the sport goodbye. I just hope Gerry will continue to help boxing by sharing his technical style of fighting with other young and aspiring boxers," said reporter Chino Trinidad to GMA News.
