Despite having a record that hovers right around .500, Dashon 'Fly Boy' Johnson - who has a mark of 21-20- 3(6 KO's) - is precisely the type of fighter that promoter Russell Peltz wants to work with.
"Because he'll fight anybody, anywhere, anytime and I think he's changing members of his team. I think his mental attitude is better than ever. I think there were things that were unsettling in his last fight with J'Leon Love," said Peltz, who's company recently inked Johnson to a promotional deal. Back on September 16th Johnson was stopped by Love in six rounds."I think there were problems in his camp that wont happen again nd they love him in Philly."
Johnson who has been campaigning in recent years at super middleweight in the mind of Peltz is more suited to fight between 154-160,"and he agrees,"said Peltz of his newest client.
Looking at Johnson's ledger it reminds you of another boxer from Philadelphia, Freddie Pendleton, who had a pedestrian record well into his career but was able to eventually win a world title and become a staple on television.
"Yeah, it's just a shame guys like Freddie Pendleton couldn't get on TV today because of their record,"said Peltz, with a chuckle."Buster Drayton to name another one from Philly."
Peltz, who now runs a regular rotation of shows from the 2300 Arena( where his next card takes place this Friday night), expects Johnson to fight in the first quarter of 2017.
