Via tele conference, former WBC light flyweight champion from Mazatlan, Pedro Guevara (29-2-1, 17KOs), stressed his goal of the year is to recover the crown which is in the grasp of his countryman Ganigan Lopez.

Pedro congratulated the current king for his excellent performance defending the belt, defeating Filipino firebrand Jonathan Taconing.

He commented that Ganigan has significantly improved his skills since their clash, becoming an appreciably more technical fighter. Not bothered about location, Pedro only hopes that the negotiations conclude in a positive manner  in order to clinch the fight. Guevara is already back in training, fully aware he needs to be consistent to achieve success.

The official challenger for the super featherweight division, Miguel 'Mickey' Roman (55-11, 42KOs), chatted with the boxing media through tele conference during the WBC weekly press conference about his singular desire to reach the top.

He made a request to WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman for the opportunity to contest for the interim belt, while Francisco Vargas rests and  recovers from his dramatic clash with Orlando Salido.

Acutely aware  that the first step is victory this Saturday against Jerope Mercado, Román pledges war.

Regarding this request, Mr. Sulaiman, claimed he will take the proposal to the WBC Board of Governors, as he acknowledges Roman has all the merits to contest this belt while Vargas gets ready to fight again.
