Mexican junior flyweight contender Pedro Guevara (26-1-1, 17KOs) has announced that he's determined to re-conquer the WBC championship that he lost by decision in Japan, and then he plans to climb up to the flyweight division to conquer another belt.
He also commented he did make a few mistakes against Yu Kimura on November 28th, in a very close bout that saw the Japanese fighter win a twelve round split decision to claim the gold. For this reason he's seeking a rematch bout, redemption and then onwards and upwards for a flyweight belt.
“I was not defeated, but I did have a uncomfortable lesson. However I'm sure I can regain the belt, because I still have the hunger . We are moving forward, ” commented Guevara, who also lays the law down as a lawyer.
For Kimura, it was his ninth straight win. He has never fought outside of Japan. The loss broke Guevara's eight fight win streak, which he built after losing a twelve round split decision against Johnreil Casimero in an IBF world title bout. He captured the WBC belt with a knockout of Akira Yaegashi in seven rounds on December 30th of 2015.
