FORMER world champion Gerry Peñalosa will step up his hard regimen and sacrifice with a strict diet for the next three weeks in preparation for Paraguay bantamweight champion Feliciano Dario Azuaga Ledesma on Dec. 10 in Antipolo City, Philippines.

Peñalosa prepares for the 10-round bout under brothers Jonathan and Carmelo Peñalosa since coming from four-months of training under former world welterweight and junior welterweight champion James "Buddy" McGirt in Orlando, Florida.

The 33-year old southpaw works out at a private gym in Multinational Village, near his home in Betterliving Subdivision, both in Paranaque City where he stays with wife Goody Lledo of General Santos City and their kids Julio Ceasar and Julliene Gaile.

Early Thursday night, Peñalosa flew to Cebu City along with his brother-trainers and father-in-law Rodolfo Lledo. He will train and do the sparring against selected elite fighters at ALA Gym of Antonio L. Aldeguer.

Peñalosa initially planned to train in Cebu for two weeks and spend the next week in high-altitude training in Baguio City.

“We have changed our training regimen, opted to work out fully in Cebu and we will do the remaining things on the last few days prior the weigh-in and fight in Manila,” said Peñalosa.

The regimen outside of the gym would be served a great part in Peñalosa’s preparation to eke out important win.

Penalos is avoiding red meat, pork, beef and other fatty foods. He is also avoideding soft drinks, and any acidic or alcoholic beverages.

Peñalosa has failed to fight on three scheduled dates, May 7, May 27 and June 10. Peñalosa’s weight is now within the featherweight division.
