We've heard of all this in the past, many times, but the promoters for Kelly Pavlik and Arthur Abraham are promising that both fighters will come together to unify their titles in the fall. Kelly Pavlik will defend his WBC/WBO middleweight titles against Sergio Mora on June 27 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, and Abraham will make a mandatory defense of his IBF title against Giovanni Lorenzo in the summer.
If both fighters walk away without any serious injuires, a tentative date of November 7 at New York's Madison Square Garden is being discussed, according to Wilfried Sauerland of Sauerland Event, who promote Abraham. Top Rank's Bob Arum has said in several interviews that Pavlik has agreed to the fight.
"We are in intense negotiations and everything is going good. The lawyers for both sides are already going over the contracts," Sauerland told German scribe JÖRG Lubrich.
If the two meet, it will certainly be the final middleweight bout for Abaraham before a jump to 168 and Pavlik has few options left and may move up as well.
