Life of a boxing promoter does not slow down even after a painful defeat. Namibian Nestor Tobias traveled to the USA to put his WBA/IBF unified titlist, then unbeaten Julius Indongo into a historic undisputed championship bout with WBC/WBO/Ring champion Terence Crawford this past August. Crawford happened to figure Indongo out early and stopped him with a vicious body punch in the third. Three weeks later, however, Tobias’s MTC Nestor Sunshine Promotions schedules to run its fourth boxing card of this year to help raise up the next possible world champion protégé. The event is called ‘No Mercy Part 7’ and takes place at the Windhoek Country Club on Saturday, September 9.
In the main event, Paulus Moses (39-3-0-1, 24 KOs) is scheduled to defend his WBO Africa title in a 135-pound match-up against Saidi Mundi (19-3-1, 11 KOs) from Tanzania. Moses won the WBA world championship at lightweight in 2009 by way of a decision over Yusuke Kobori. He made one successful title defense before passed the belt to hard-hitting Miguel Acosta in 2010.
Moses is currently ranked No. 4 by the WBO. He was part of Team Indongo last month in the States serving as a chief sparring partner for his countryman. Now it is Paulus’s turn to step into the squared circle and he is eager to secure a second chance to become crowned champion.
“I literally trained and prepared for this fight while in the USA and feeling in great shape ready to get the win. Every fight is important but this fight is even more significant because a win puts me right into the mix as a world title challenger. I have been there before and would surely like to get another opportunity to fight for the world title and this will be the mission with this fight. I am still the best in the world and looking to putting up a great show for the fans on September 9,” said Moses through his promoter, Nestor Tobias to BoxingScene.com.
The chief support for the main event will be undefeated featherweight contender Sakaria Lukas’s WBO Africa title defense. The 33-year-old Namibian is currently rated No. 5 by the WBO at 126 pounds. Lukas’s (19-0, 13 KOs) opponent will be experienced Mudde Ntambi Rabison (22-4-1, 7 KOs) from Uganda in the 12-round get-go.
The third title bout in the evening takes place between super featherweight prospect Jeremiah Nakathila (12-1, 8 KOs) and Tanzanian Said Chino (13-5-2, 10 KOs) for the 130-pound version of the WBO Africa belt. Nakathila’s only loss came to Evgeny Chuprakov last November in Russia.
“I am looking forward to becoming an Africa champion again. I narrowly lost my title in Russia a year ago and this fight gives me the opportunity to get back in the world ratings. I am excited about joining the MTC Sunshine Promotions, they have always promoted my fights but I have now joined their gym on a full-time basis to elevate my career. I am taking this fight seriously and promise my fans to deliver just that,” discussed Nakathila.
Next to the three title fights are seven preliminary bouts on the card. Novices and prospects from Namibia will get a chance to prove they could be next in line as world title challengers coming out of the small but gifted African country.
