Paulie Malignaggi’s return to the ring is still on, just a little later than planned. The BoxingScene Today analyst has been sidelined by a sprained thumb suffered during training, forcing a delay in his bare-knuckle showdown with Tyler Goodjohn.
Originally set for September 6 in Bristol, UK, the bout will now take place on October 18 in Leeds.
“This is just a postponement. It’s not a cancellation. Tyler, on October 18, make sure you’re ready,” Malignaggi said in a message posted on BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing’s social channels.
The “Magic Man” announced in early July that he had signed on for a three-fight deal with BKB. The 44-year-old said the shorter, five-round format was a big reason for the move. Malignaggi has one previous bare-knuckle appearance, a 2019 loss to MMA veteran Artem Lobov.
