WBO welterweight champion Paul Williams (33-0, 24KOs) is looking to make 2008 a year to remember. He wants to unify the welterweight division and his number one target is WBA champion Miguel Cotto (31-0, 25KOs).

Williams expects that a bout with Cotto may come as early as 2008. He doesn't only want Cotto, WBC champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (39-0, 25KOs) is also on the list. Williams returns on Feb. 9, defending his title against Carlos Quintana of Puerto Rico. He was originally scheduled to face IBF champ Kermit Cintron, who injured his hand during a Nov. 23 title defense against Jesse Feliciano.

"I want that fight (with Cotto). While it depends on me winning, the possibility is good," Williams told El Nuevo Dia. "Mayweather is the most recognized guy with all of the titles that he'ss earned, then comes Cotto and then me.  It doesn't matter to me who I fight first. I think we should unify the titles so it's like the the old days, when tehre were no doubts who was the champion in each weight division. I expect one of those fights in 2008, whether it be Cotto or Mayweather."

Williams is not worried about the style of either guy, he is confident of being able to adjust to either.

"When I enter to fight, I adjust my style to that of my opponent.  I react and I adjust to different fighters," said Williams
