At the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut, former champion Paul Spadafora (45-0-1, 19 KOs) stopped Alain Hernandez (18-9-2, 10 KOs) in the fifth round of a junior welterweight contest. Spadafora punished a very gutsy Hernandez, round after round, to the head and body. The Mexican boxer had enough after five and did not come out for the sixth round. Spadafora is looking to get a major fight in 2011, either with Erik Morales or Matthew Hatton.
Junior welterweight prospect Danny O’Connor (14-0, 3 KOs) continues his unbeaten run with an eight round unanimous decision over Humberto Tapia (15-16-1, 8 KOs). The scores were 80-72, 80-72 and 80-71.
Welterweight Jill Emery (10-4, 4 KOs) knocked out Addy Irizarry (8-5, 2 KOs) in the first round.
Undefeated super middleweight contender Mark DeLuca (8-0, 5 KOs) won a four round unanimous decision over Nick Running Bear (4-5-1, 1 KO). All three judges had it 40-35.
Lightweight prospect Joseph Perez (5-0, 2 KOs) stopped Ronnie Peterson (3-5, 3 KOs) in one round.
