Paul Smith Returns, Added To April 2 Liverpool Bill

Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Paul “Smigga” Smith (35-6, 20 KOs) has been added to the April 2 bill at Liverpool’s Echo Arena.

The show - presented by Hearn's Matchroom Boxing - is topped by Smith's younger brother, Callum who challenges France's Hadillah Mohoumadi for the EBU super middleweight title.

Smith's late placement on the show will mark his first outing since his ninth-round TKO loss to Andre Ward in June of last year. The 33-year-old landed the opportunity off the back of two decision losses to Arthur Abraham for the WBO Super middleweight title in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

There were rumours that he may opt for retirement, but the fire still burns for the Liverpool-based fighter. Indeed, he still believes he can get amongst the titles.

A victory would get him back on the winning trail and continue the remarkable Smith brothers story, which has thrown up plenty of domestic and other titles. Liam became the first in the family to land a major title, scoring the WBO light-middleweight belt following a 7th round knockout of American contender John Thompson last October.
