Paul Smith remains undecided on whether to box again following his stoppage defeat to super-middleweight king Andre Ward.

The 32-year-old Liverpudlian was beaten inside nine rounds by Ward in a catchweight bout in Oakland, California last month, which led to trainer Joe Gallagher telling him to call it a day.

Smith (35-6-0-KO20) has now lost his last three fights following back-to-back world title defeats to Arthur Abraham and, although he has said he would like to go out on a high, admits he is not considering a return to the ring just yet.

"I am not even thinking about it," he told Sky Sports.

"I honestly don't know what I'm doing. It was only three weeks ago that I fought the best fighter in the division, so I am just taking a rest. And I need a good rest with my family.

"My missus is due to have a baby in six weeks' time and there is loads of things to do round the house, so I just haven't got the time to sit and think about it."

Smith is the former holder of the British super-middleweight title, which brother Callum wants to fight Rocky Fielding for later this year.

Callum's rapid rise to prominence has intensified speculation over brother Paul's future, but while the elder sibling is touched by the best wishes of his fans, he is still refusing to commit.

"It's nice that people keep asking me but I haven't even come close to making a decision yet," he said.
