Controversial New South Wales and Cronulla rugby league captain Paul Gallen is returning to New Zealand for his fourth professional boxing bout.
The 33-year-old will feature on the Super 8 card in Auckland on November 3.
Gallen's opponent is yet to be announced though he will be a sportsman, most likely with league connections.
Gallen will be looking to make it 3-0 on Kiwi shores, having TKO'd All Black Hika Elliot and squeaked past Liam Messam in 2013.
The bout will be fought over Gallen's preferred four, three-minute rounds, as the 103kg heavyweight looks to continue on his quest to a potential bout with Sonny Bill Williams within 12 months.
Promoter John McRae is pleased to secure Gallen, who will be in action with the Sharks against the Rabbitohs this weekend as the NRL finals start.
"It's an exciting fight to have on the card, Gallen's been described by boxing pundits as having some boxing ability and has been rapidly improving under the tutelage of [former] world champion Daniel Geale and trainer Graham Shaw," McRae said.
"We think we've lined up a Kiwi with a ability to put a stop to the Gallen hype. Time will tell but I'm expecting an epic bout."
The night will include Monty Betham junior's quest to emulate his father's legendary boxing career, challenging current New Zealand cruiserweight champion James Langton. Fast rising heavyweight Hemi "The Heat" Ahio (8 -0, 6KOs) will fight for the national heavyweight belt once held by Joseph Parker.
The evening will also feature Super 8's last man standing tournament format, showcasing talent from throughout the Australasian region.
