One of Britain’s brightest prospects, Pat Brown, will headline in Altrincham on Friday, April 3 with Vasil Ducar leading the way to take him on.
The Jamie Moore-trained 26-year-old is 5-0 (5 KOs) and has been struggling to get rounds since turning pro. Though he went four rounds in his debut, he’s subsequently scored three second-round stoppages and has one first-round victim.
The 12-5 Austine Nnamdi was supposed to take him rounds, as was the 24-8 Felix Valera. Instead, they were both blitzed in a couple of rounds.
That is where experienced Czech Ducar is likely to come in.
BoxingScene understands that the 19-7 (14 KOs) 36-year-old will face Brown and the tough veteran has boxed in England before, losing a 10-round decision to ex-Olympian Cheavon Clarke, dropping Jordan Thompson before losing on points over 10 and having gone the full 10 rounds with future WBO cruiserweight champion Chris Billam-Smith.
The only stoppage of his career came when he fought Cuba’s Mike Perez in Dubai in 2023.
That means an Easter weekend of fights in the UK will include Brown-Ducar on the third, Lauren Price-Stephanie Pineiro Aquino and Deontay Wilder-Derek Chisora on April 4 and the return of Sky Sports with MVP on April 5 and a London Olympia bill topped by the lightweight unification bout between Caroline Dubois and Terri Harper.
It is understood that Brown’s team had been keen on a fight with English champion John Hedges, but Hedges was looking elsewhere, and that Ducar will serve as a decent measuring-stick ahead of what they hope is a breakout year for the heavy-handed 6ft 3ins prospect.
