Jean Pascal has no respect for his countryman, WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson. The two Haitian-born Canadian stars have a real rivalry brewing. They respective agents were in talks last year to stage a fight for this coming April. They were unable to reach an agreement.
Pascal is the mandatory challenger to Stevenson's title. He could have sat back and waited for the opportunity to fight for that belt. Instead he's scheduled to challenge WBA/IBF/WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev on March 14th at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The World Boxing Council has ordered Stevenson to face the winner of that contest.
"Listen, belts don’t define a champion. Stevenson is not a real champion because he has the RING magazine belt. He ducked Kovalev, he ducked Hopkins and he ducked me. Belts don’t define boxers, belts don’t define champions. You can have the belt around your waist and be a coward. Stevenson is a p*ssy, he’s a coward and he’s a disgrace for the sport. He’s a disgrace for his nation and he’s a disgrace for my country," Pascal told On The Ropes Boxing Radio .
