Caracas, Venezuela - Two interim champions were crowned before the local fans. Mayerlin Rivas won the vacant interim-bantamweight title of the World Boxing Association (WBA) by scoring a technical knockout in nine rounds over Mexican Arely Valente at the José Beracasa Gym in United Nations Park.
Rivas widely dominated the with better power and boxing technique. Valente was taking a beating in the ninth round and referee Gustavo Padilla, Panama decided to stop the action. Rivas improves her record to 10-3-1 with 7 knockouts while Valente fell to 12-2-1, 6 KOs.
Also on the card, Yonfrez Parejo (16-1-1, 7 KOs) won the vacant WBA interim bantamweight title, stopping Luis Hinojosa (25-8, 15 KOs) in the eleventh round with varied attack of hard shots to the head and body.
