The promoter of Mikkel Kessler (38-0, 29 KOs), Betina Palle, revealed to the press that talks have been ongoing for the last couple of days with Joe Calzaghe's (42-0, 31 KOs)promoter Frank Warren, with respect to matching their star fighters in a winner-takes-all mega fight that could possibly take place as early as February 2007.
The winner would become the first super middleweight fighter to hold all four of the major world titles at 168-pounds, and only the second fighter in history to hold all four belts at the same time. Bernard Hopkins became the first when knocked out Oscar De La Hoya to add the WBO middleweight title to the WBC, WBA and IBF belts he already owned.
Palle said that Calzaghe would not have to come to Copenhagen to make the fight, Kessler is open to fight in the UK for the right amount of money. Cardiff's Millennium Stadium is favorite to host the bout.
