Jun Pader has suffered a devastating first round knockout at the hands of Pan Asia Boxing Association flyweight champion Denkaosan Kaovichit  in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

The badly overmatched Pader who was coming off an unimpressive  ten round split decision victory over Greg Mangan last June 12 was dropped for the full count by a vicious right upper cut at 1:38 of the opening round. It was Denkaosan’s seventh successful title defense and improved his record to 31-1 with 14 knockouts. The Thai champion who is currently ranked No. 2 by the WBA won the title with a third round KO of Jack Maldecir on November 25, 2003.

Over in Bankstown, New South Wales, super featherweight  Rey Martizano  dropped a lopsided six round decision to Australia’s Ahmed Elomar on July 1. However, super featherweight Robert Oyan fighting on the same card scored a comfortable four round decision over Reinhard Badato.

Rather surprisingly when Martizano lost by a third round TKO to Nathan Sting last April 22 for the vacant WBE bantamweight title he failed to make the weight and came in a 120 ½ pounds. Three months later against Elomar, the Filipino fought as a super featherweight and weighed 127 ½ pounds.

In Tokyo, Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation No. 1 minimum weight contender Makoto Suzuki has pounded out a unanimous ten round decision over Filipino Ricardo Albia. All three judges had Suzuki the comfortable winner by scores of 99-94, 8-93 and 98-94. Well known Japanese matchmaker, boxing manager and journalist Joe Koizumi reported that Suzuki who is in line for a mandatory OPBF title shot at undefeated Rodel Mayol was “befuddled by the tremendous durability” of Albia.
