Paddy Barnes warmed up for a fight in his home city with his fourth professional success.

The 30-year-old triple Olympian, who won gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, advanced his pro ledger with a points victory over Juan Hinostroza.

The fight began TV coverage, exclusively live on BoxNation, of MTK Scotland’s ‘Capital Collision’ card at the Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh.

Barnes produced some of the best boxing of his prizefighting career to date under the tutelage of Danny Vaughan before coming out with a 60-53 verdict, courtesy of six good rounds and a knockdown at the end of the second.

‘The Leprechaun’ is now scheduled for action on November 18, exclusively live on BoxNation and BT Sport, on the undercard of Carl Frampton’s Belfast homecoming at the SSE Arena, in a defence of the WBO European flyweight title he holds.

Stephen Tiffney outpointed Troy James in a tough 10-round non-title contest.

The pair met in the featherweight division at the Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland, as part of the undercard to MTK Scotland’s ‘Capital Collision’ card.

Tiffney dominated proceedings from the off, exclusively live on BoxNation, and moved into title contention with the convincing display against James, the former British super-featherweight title challenger, despite being relatively inexperienced.

The fight went the distance and was scored 98 points to 92, with the announcement of the verdict somewhat drowned out by the tone of ‘Give It Up’ by KC & The Sunshine Band.

Meanwhile, Tommy Philbin secured the vacant Celtic super-middleweight title with a razor-thin decision against Rhys Pagan.

Philbin was adjudged to have been the better man on all three judges’ scorecards, picking up tallies of 96-95, 98-93 and 96-95 before having his hand raised on the back of a 10-round battle which had those at ringside on their feet.
