According to reports in the Philippines, the return of WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao will depend on the outcome of upcoming May elections. Pacquiao is going up against Roy Chiongbian for a congressional seat in the Sarangani province of the Philippines.
If Pacquiao wins the political race, he will return to the ring in November and begin training in the month of September. If Chiongbian wins, Pacquiao will return in the month of September and begin training in the summer.
Some of the opponents in the running are Antonio Margarito, Juan Manuel Marquez, the winner of the upcoming Floyd Mayweather vs. Shane Mosley fight in May and the winner of June fight between Miguel Cotto and Yuri Foreman.
