The WBO's president, Francisco 'Paco' Valcárcel, believes "Sugar" Shane Mosley is the leading candidate to face Manny Pacquiao in his next fight. Pacquiao captured the vacant WBC championship last Saturday at Cowboys Stadium in Texas, with a bruising twelve round decision win over Antonio Margarito. Pacquiao's team have already made it known that Manny will drop the WBC title and return to 147-pounds to defend the WBO title.
Although Mosley has not won a fight since January 2009, Paco has no problem sanctioning the fight as long as the bout is contested at 147-pounds.
"[The bout] must be fought at 147 pounds. We have no problem in qualifying Mosley, since he's a world class fighter and a world champion on several occasions," Paco said.
