If Floyd Mayweather Jr. gets past Juan Manuel Marquez on July 18 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Manny Pacquiao wants to fight him. Mayweather is a heavy favorite to beat Marquez. Pacquiao wants the fight but says the final call will come from Top Rank and his team. Top Rank's Bob Arum has mentioned WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto as one of the frontrunners to face Pacquiao next. Pacquiao wants to return on October 17.
He doesn't see Marquez as being too much trouble for Floyd. He gives Mayweather the edge is most categories and sees him winning. Pacquiao fought Marquez twice, going to a draw in 2004 and winning a close split decision in 2008. Pacquiao vs. Mayweather is the biggest fight in boxing.
"Mayweather has a lot of advantages. He is faster than Marquez and should be able to win. If he does then I'd like to fight him, although that is down to my promotional team," Pacquiao told the Bangkok Post.
