TEAM Pacquiao member Joe Ramos says Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao, who leaves for Los Angeles tomorrow, will begin training at the Wild Card Gym of Freddie Roach on Monday.
In an overseas telephone conversation with Viva Sports/Standard Today, Ramos said Pacquiao was “enjoying himself before he comes out but when he does he’ll be alright.”
Roach himself said Pacquiao would start working out one day after his arrival.
Ramos said Pacquiao’s decision not to watch the Marco Antonio Barrera-Rocky Juarez rematch wasn’t a big issue, even though Roach had told Brad Cooney of Boxing Talk in an interview published on the Pacquiao Web site that the boxing icon was arriving in LA on Friday and would be at ringside for the rematch at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Ramos said Pacquiao wanted to spend a little more time with his family because when he begins training “he will have plenty of time to get ready for the fight” since he always concentrates fully and as Roach has said kills himself in the gym and is “the finest athlete in this regard.”
The American trainer promised that Pacquiao would be in the best shape of his life for his Grand Finale with legendary Erik “El Terrible” Morales at the Thomas and Mack Center on Nov. 18 and would put relentless pressure on the Mexican before taking him out in the later rounds.
