Pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao was recently hospitalized due to a recurring bout with acid reflux, according to a report from Abac Cordero of the Philippine Star.
The WBO welterweight champion spent the night in Cardinal Santos Hospital in San Juan, Philippines. He was released the following morning and immediately resumed his duties in the Philippine government as congressman of the province of Sarangani.
Jinkee Pacquiao, the fighter’s wife, texted GMA News opining that sometimes her husband skips meals, which might be the cause of the heartburn-like symptoms.
This isn’t the first time the “Pac-Man” has dealt with this issue. ABS-CBN reported that Pacquiao was hospitalized for acid reflux in May of last year.
Pacquiao defends his title against Mexico City’s Juan Manuel Marquez on Nov. 12 in Las Vegas. The first official press conference for the fight will reportedly take place on Sept. 3 at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta (Rizal) Park in Manila.
