Even though Juan Manuel Marquez was dominated in his last ring outing with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September, trainer Freddie Roach says a trilogy bout is possible with Manny Pacquiao for March 2010. Pacquiao returns on November 14 against WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto. There is a tentative return date for Pacquiao in March of next year.
Pacquiao and Marquez fought to a draw in 2004 and the rematch saw Manny win a close split decision in 2008. Roach said the fight would happen at 140-pounds with Pacquiao's IBO title at stake. Marquez continues to tell people that he was robbed in both fights, and Roach wants to shut his mouth.
“I think Marquez is small at 147 lbs and he is at his best at 140 lbs. So we will fight him at 140 lbs with the title at stake," Roach was quoted as saying by GMA News during the SCOOP sa Kamayan forum in Manila. “He (Marquez) has been crying a lot and I want him shut up. I really believe Manny can knock him out when they meet (again). It will be a dream come true if we can fight Mayweather and Marquez. If that happens, there is nothing more to prove for Manny and we can all retire."
