Russian welterweight contender Konstantin Ponomarev (29-0, 13KOs) detailed his recent sparring session against a former three division world champion, 44-year old Shane Mosley.

“He showed me how to move inside ring, how to catch an opponent if he is running from you, how to make headbutt land on the shoulder, how to ruin your opponent's defense. Moreover, Mosley was incredibly good at close range. A few times Mosley tied up my hands and immobilized me and made me feel like a helpless boy."

"After three minutes of work, he made me exhausted and during the next round I couldn’t even raise my hands. Mosley is not young but still dangerous. I am afraid, because in real fight he will wallop me.”

The next performance for Ponomarev will be part of the Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley HBO Pay-Per-View on April 9th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where he will take on unbeaten Brad Solomon (26-0, 9KOs).

“I will have my next fight in April, at the event where Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley will meet. The opponent is unbeaten American fighter Brad Solomon. He is fast; he has something similar to Roy Jones Jr. He likes to put on a show and lowers his hand. In contrast to our new Russian citizen, he doesn’t have a knockout punch. I would like to have close range fight with Brad - if [my trainer] Abel Sanchez will allow me," Ponomarev said.
