Manny Pacquiao is back in Los Angeles, Calfornia to start his grueling 40-day training camp for his scheduled fight on a televised double header on September 10 at the 19,000-seat Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
Pacquiao will immediately report to the Wild Card Boxing Club Gym of his American trainer Freddie Roach on August 2.
The 26-year old Pacquiao Pacquiao (39-3-2, 30 KOs) is slated to fight a 30-year fighter named Hector Velasquez (42-10-2, 31 KOs) in the co-main event of a card that will be televised nationally in the USA by HBO.
Reigning WBC International super featherweight king Erik Morales (48-2, 34 KOs) will see action in the main event of the Bob Arum-promoted card. He will face on American Olympian Zahir Raheem (26-1, 16 KOs).
If both Morales and Pacquiao come out victorious in Staples Center, it will pave the way for a rematch of their March pay-per-view war. The Mexican nicknamed 'El Terrible' won that thrilling fight by way of a 12 round unanimous decision.
HBO has opened a date for Pacquiao-Morales 2 in January if both parties feel the original suggested date of December 10 isn’t profitable because it may be too close to the rematch between Jermain Taylor and Bernard Hopkins on December 3.
Initially, Pacquiao’s handler was thinking to move his training camp to Arizona to prevent distractions on a day-to-day basis in his daily workout, which is what took place before the Morales fight. Pacquiao's camp decided to stay at Roach's sweat shop with the condition that it will not be an open house. Security guards will not let outsiders in while the Filipino warrior is training.
